Understanding Biophotons
Biophotons are ultra-weak light emissions produced by all living cells. “Bio” refers to a living organism and “photon” refers to a particle or wave of light. While invisible to the naked eye, these light “photons” function as primary packets of information which travel on network lines known as “meridians” or specific pathways throughout the body. Research indicates that this light is stored within our DNA, creating a dynamic "web" that connects tissues and organs to regulate growth, regeneration, and essential life processes.
This holographic field of light serves as more than just a biological regulator; it is also explored as a basis for memory, consciousness, and the interface between the mind and body. Furthermore, biophoton science provides a modern framework for traditional healing. The "Ch'i" of Chinese Medicine and the "Prana" of Yoga relate to these coherent electromagnetic fields. By measuring this light upon specific “Voll” points located on the meridians at the fingers and toes we gain a non-invasive tool to assess an organism’s health and understand the fundamental energy that sustains life. The meridians are subtle lines that lie just beneath the surface of the skin in the fascia layer. They behave very similarly to high-speed fiber-optic communication cables which carry information via light.

Timeline of Discovery
The History of Biophoton Research
The study of biophotons began in 1923 when Professor Alexander Gurvich first identified "mitogenetic rays." While the field saw significant global research throughout the 1930s, it was the work of German biophysicist Fritz-Albert Popp in the 1970s that provided the definitive proof. Popp confirmed that these light emissions originate from our DNA and possess a "laser-like" coherence.
Popp’s theories opened the door to a new understanding of how light controls biochemical processes and cellular growth. His work has since been validated by leading minds, including Nobel laureate Ilya Prigogine. Today, this research is coordinated by the International Institute of Biophysics, a global network of laboratories across more than ten countries dedicated to advancing this future-facing theory of life and holistic medicine.
A Century of Progress
The foundation for biophotonics was laid over a century ago, but modern technology has recently brought these "ultra-weak light emissions" into the scientific mainstream. Following early 20th-century discoveries in Russia, Europe, and the USA, the field was revitalized in 1974. At that time, German biophysicist Fritz-Albert Popp proved that all living cells emit a coherent field of light that originates in the DNA.
This discovery suggests that light is a primary regulator of life, influencing everything from basic biochemistry to complex cellular regeneration. With the support of eminent scientists like Nobel Prize nominee Dr. Herbert Frohlich and Nobel Prize winner Dr. Ilya Prigogine the field has grown into a global effort. Since 1992, the International Institute of Biophysics in Germany has spearheaded a research network spanning ten countries, promising even more rapid developments in the decade ahead.

Johan Boswinkel, Inventor of the Chiren® and Biophoton Light Therapy
The Search for Understanding
In the early 1970s, Johan Boswinkel was an Economics student who wondered why economic plans never worked. He concluded that it was because all economic models were missing the “human factor” and he studied Medicine with the hope to learn more about humans.
It was a big disappointment to him that Medicine focused on isolated parts, rather than on the whole. When he then started to research Psychology, this too appeared to focus only on “types” and models. Disappointed, Boswinkel returned to the world of economics and finance.
The Discovery of Biophotons
In 1982, by chance Boswinkel was asked to translate the work of Fritz-Albert Popp from German to English. Popp, a German biophysicist, conducted groundbreaking work proving that all cells can emit a very faint light, which he termed biophotons.
Popp’s article got him thinking: “If all the information required to control the body’s biochemical processes is in the light that the body emits, and if disturbances in that light disrupt biochemical processes and cause disease – as Popp claimed – then it must be possible to “examine” the light and remove the disease. Then you return the “repaired” light to the body. If it works, it will have enormous consequences for everything.”
Research and Development
Boswinkel immediately began delving deeper into the study of biophotons. He made the critical observation that the patterns of coherent and chaotic biophotons in cells as described by Popp matched the patterns of electrical resistance at acupuncture points as described by Dr. Reinhard Voll, the German founder of electroacupuncture, in the 1940s. Voll also proved that each acupuncture point corresponds to a different organ. Therefore, Boswinkel began work developing a device that determines where biophotons in the body are disturbed based on the electrical response at acupuncture points on the hands and feet. Original instruments were based on analog electrical signals. The advent of fiber-optic technology in the late 1990s, which can directly transmit light, permitted the development of a more sophisticated and powerful instrument – the Chiren. In the past 30 years, Boswinkel and a growing team of trained Biontologists have helped thousands of people overcome chronic disease.

What Is Biontology
Biontology is based on the understanding that the body is a single, integrated system. Every part affects the whole, including our mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. When one area falls out of balance, the entire system can be impacted. Rather than viewing parts in isolation, this practice looks at the body as a unified network. By measuring biophoton emissions, we gain an accurate picture of the body's functional state.
The process involves using the Chiren instrument to measure light signals at specific points on the hands and feet that correspond to every organ and gland. Think of biophotons as the alphabet of a biological language. When we understand this language, we can identify "incoherent light" or imbalances at their source and correct it by inverting the incoherent phase of the frequency thus bringing balance at the biophoton level. When the biophotons are coherent, the cells of the body return to their natural state of health and undesirable symptoms disappear.

What Causes Disease
Beyond Symptoms: Addressing the First Cause
When we experience health challenges, we are often programmed to focus on the symptoms. However, in Biontology, we recognize that symptoms are simply the language the body uses to attract attention to a deeper issue. The true "dis-ease" is expressed as a disturbance in our biophoton field – the light that regulates our life processes. It is common to see therapies that struggle to provide lasting relief because they operate only on the level of symptoms. Biontology takes a different path by focusing on the "first cause" of the imbalance. By measuring and restoring the coherence of your biophoton emissions, we address the root of the disturbance. This approach allows the symptoms to fade naturally as the body’s own light and self-regulation are restored.
From Chaos to Balance
Biophoton Incoherence
Every life form possesses a unique, harmonious signature within its light expression. When outside signals disrupt this integrity, "incoherence" or chaos occurs. These disruptions can stem from many sources, including bacteria, environmental radiation, vaccinations, physical trauma, or even the stress of difficult relationships.
Initially, these disruptions create subtle symptoms that are easy to overlook. Over time, however, the imbalance intensifies until it manifests as a physical problem that can no longer be ignored. While conventional treatments often focus on these physical manifestations through medication or surgery, they rarely address the underlying light imbalance. With the Chiren, we can restore the quality of biophoton emissions. Once these light signals are corrected, the body’s biochemistry follows suit, allowing the physical body to return to its natural, healthy state.
Correcting the Source of Chaos
Symptoms are the physical result of "noisy" or incoherent biophoton signals. When our internal light is disturbed by external factors—such as pathogens, toxins, vaccinations, cell phone or other radiation, and physical or emotional trauma – our body’s communication network begins to break down.
If these disruptive signals are left unaddressed, the body eventually loses its ability to self-regulate. While traditional symptom-based treatments may provide temporary relief, they often leave the original "chaos" in the biophoton field untouched. Biontology offers a direct solution by using the Chiren to identify and correct these distorted signals. This is done by inverting the light frequency phase of the discovered chaotic cause which neutralizes it. The affected organ, gland or system is then strengthened. By restoring coherence to your light, we provide the body with the clear instructions it needs to heal itself. When the light is right, the biochemistry naturally follows.
